Finally some good news for exporters!
More money to flow into the Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) program.
Trade Minister Simon Birmingham has stepped up to the plate to announce an extra $20M over the next three years to flow into the program, $60m in additional funding in total. We say well done and thank you very much.
He has only had the Trade Portfolio for less than 8 months, but has completed the Indonesian Free Trade agreement, spoken to many exporters, listened to their concerns, fought the battle in the cabinet for extra money and broken the EMDG funding drought after 5 years. Busy boy for sure.
The funding increase is a great start to help exporter’s expectations be met under the program, but will only do so in part.
