Feedback from Trade Minister Simon Birmingham

Persistence Pays Off!

On March 12th we sent a letter to the Trade Minister’s office regarding EMDG based responses to recent natural disasters in Australia and the COVID-19 crisis with suggestions to encourage and support exporters during these challenging times.

On 24th July 2020 we received a personal response to that letter. Trade Minster Simon Birmingham thanked us for our suggested changes to the EMDG scheme to help Aussie exporters recover from the global crisis.

Minister Birmingham and his team are committed to developing innovative ways to support our export community. In light of these commitments, our latest newsletter discussed the implemented changes to the EMDG scheme for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.

For one. the removal of the export performance test has seen a number of our client base re-enter the scheme who otherwise would not have been able to apply for a 2020 EMDG grant.

We also wait with baited breathe for the Government response to the independent Review that is currently under way, for which we lodged a submission back in November 2019. Minister Birmingham also thanked us for our contribution along with other EMDG recipients which included some of our client base.
